Last week Barça took a decisive step toward the Champions league final and a potential 5th European title for the hero of the night Lionel Messi. The Blaugrana, ended the night with a flattering 3-0 victory over the English team Liverpool.
Under the eyes of the sell-out crowd at the Nou Camp stadium, Liverpool started reasonably well and were arguably the superior team for the first hour of the contest. However, a fine finish from the former Liverpool player Luis Suarez, and then the inevitable magic from the Argentinian hero sealed a memorable win for the team from Catalonia.
Liverpool will of course retain a hope that the match can be turned around and that they will be able to score the sufficient number of goals to progress to the final in Madrid. With superb strikers like African player of the year Mohammed Salah, Roberto Firminho and Sadio Mané there is a possibility of a high scoring match but “The Reds” will know that Barça are overwhelming favourites to reach their 8th European Cup Final.
The eventual winners of this 2-legged contest will then take on either Tottenham or the Dutch team Ajax who take a one nil away victory back to Amsterdam. Therefore a “Cruyff Derby” seems the most likely final at the Wanda Metropolitano on the 1st of June.
